BEAUTY IN THE ABANDONED

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you will already know that I've moved from sunny Sydney, Australia to my old stomping grounds in the US of A! I try to keep this blog photography-focused, so I haven't mentioned much about the big move over the past few weeks. But after boxing up our entire house, packing it, tetris-style, into a tiny storage unit and hopping on a quick 24 hour flight, I am officially settled in the Midwest and enjoying some FREEZING temps. (Ummm, Spring, this was not part of the plan.)

But in all honesty, it's great to be back. I'm also excited to say that I will be continuing my photography business here in the States! I'm currently taking bookings for weddings, engagements, events, family sessions and newborns all throughout the Midwest (Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, etc!) so if you are interested, please contact me HERE.

But now for the fun stuff. One of the world's most beautiful abandoned churches is located just 20 minutes away from my hometown in the city of Gary, IN and luckily an old friend of mine knew just where it was! To say the least, I was overwhelmed. There is so much beauty in the destroyed. This church would have been truly breathtaking in it's day. I can only hope that by photographing the magnificent remains now, I've done what used to be Gary Methodist Church some sort of justice.

If you are interested in seeing more of these sadly destroyed, but hauntingly beautiful churches there is a photo essay from the Huffington Post and also another on Buzzfeed.
