KANGAROOS!!
Finally! After living in Australia for nearly 3 years, I saw a kangaroo. TWO in fact!
I know, I know. I'm a huge nerd. And any Aussie reading this will be rolling their eyes and saying "Ohhhhh, but we ride them to work!" But I just can't help myself. I'm still a foreigner at heart, so I had this desperate need to see a kangaroo lounging in the sun or bounding across a field.
So Sam and I were down in Mollymook for the weekend and we took a trip to Bendalong Point, a surf spot about 20 minutes away. We've been there before and people are always saying how kangaroos just lounge on the beach. But of course, they have NEVER been there when I have! It seemed like this day was going to be the same story, because after 2 hours of surfing, sunning and wandering I had zero kangaroo friends. So the boys packed up and we got in our cars to leave. But before we could even get out of the parking lot, Matt was jumping out of his car (door open, engine running) pointing up the road. And there, just in front of us, at the entrance to the lot was a kangaroo!
We all walked up, trying not to spook him off and then spotted the other one. He was just lying in the sun. Not even remotely phased by us! We couldn't help but get closer and ended up sitting on the grass around them for a good 30 minutes before one hopped off. It was amazing. And I'm really happy with some of the shots I got :)
